Photography is not just the act of freezing a moment in time; it is an act of creation, a declaration of truth. It is the art of designing a space that invites a story to unfold. It is the art of seeing people—not just through a lens but through the layers of their humanity. Photography, for me, is the pursuit of intentionality, a way of understanding the world not as it is, but as it could be through the right perspective.
I grew up in Upstate New York, in the shadows of the Adirondacks, where the mountains were both my companions and my first canvas. Every trail I walked, every vista I captured, and every roll of film I developed taught me to find beauty in the quiet, the vast, and the untamed. I didn’t know then that those early encounters with landscapes would plant a seed that would one day grow into a career of creating images that speak louder than words.
But life, as it often does, led me on a detour. My adult years began in the corporate world, navigating the landscapes of IT and cyber-consulting. My travels were no longer for photography but for Fortune 100 companies in cities like San Francisco, New York, and Washington, DC. Along the way, I married the love of my life and became a father to two incredible children. Yet, despite all my successes, a part of me yearned for something more—something real, something lasting.
The turning point came when I saw my young son pretending to take a conference call, imitating the only version of me he saw. It was a mirror I wasn’t ready for. In that moment, I realized I wasn’t just shaping my own life; I was shaping his understanding of the world. That moment reignited my passion for art, for representation, for storytelling.
Three days before the world shut down in a pandemic, I took the leap into the unknown. With the love and unwavering support of my family, I left the corporate world to become a full-time artist—a photographer. My children became my inspiration, and photography became my way of seeing them, seeing myself, and seeing our community.
Today, I specialize in professional portraiture and brand campaigns. My days are spent in Washington, DC, capturing the essence of some of the world’s largest law firms—Morgan Lewis, Mayer Brown, Eversheds, and more. My work spans from headshots to on-location portraits, capturing the faces of the world’s decision-makers.
Beyond corporate photography, I’ve partnered with brands and organizations like the NCAA, Ogilvy, the ACLU, and Spotify, creating imagery that amplifies stories and builds connections. Through my art, I aim to push forward a vision of humanity that is honest, dignified, and deeply rooted in representation.
But my work doesn’t stop with corporations and campaigns. Partnering with fellow creatives, I co-founded The Dojo Studios, a creative space in the DMV area. Through this studio, we launched a nonprofit that teaches photography to inner-city youth—our Kings and Queens. These young storytellers learn not only how to hold a camera but how to use it to hold space for their communities, to become the griots of their generation.
Whether live-streaming art events to global audiences or mentoring the next generation of creatives, my purpose is clear: to build a hub where creativity, collaboration, and community thrive.
My journey, much like my photography, is rooted in exploration. What began as a love for mountains has transformed into a love for the human landscape—the stories, the triumphs, and the quiet moments that define who we are. Perhaps our paths will cross in a café in DC, a lagoon in Lagos, or wherever you call home. Until then, I’ll be here—creating, listening, and capturing the stories that make us all a little more connected.
