From the DMV to Chapel Hill, Nyla represents the next generation of young queens stepping onto a worldwide stage— grounded in preparation, driven by purpose, and just getting started.
Nyla Brooks is one of the DMV’s most accomplished basketball products, carrying a legacy of excellence from her high school career onto the national stage at the University of North Carolina. A dominant force throughout her prep years, Nyla established herself as a premier talent through consistent high-level performances, leadership, and an elite competitive motor that separated her from her peers.
Her impact earned her recognition as a McDonald’s All-American, placing her among the top players in the country and solidifying her reputation as a complete, college-ready athlete. Throughout high school, she was known not only for her skill and physicality, but for her basketball IQ, discipline, and ability to rise in big moments—hallmarks of players built for the next level.
Now in her rookie season at UNC, Nyla is continuing that trajectory. Transitioning into one of the most storied programs in women’s basketball, she’s embracing the pace, physicality, and expectations of the college game—earning opportunities, contributing within the system, and laying the foundation for a long Tar Heel career.
Her freshman year reflects growth, adaptability, and a clear commitment to development, both on and off the court.
